Next Thursday, AIA Shanghai will be touring a new strategic CBD, the Hongqiao Hub.  Join us to learn about this development, its significance to Shanghai, as well as how it takes advantage of special transportation and economic links to provide a truly unique addition to the Hongqiao area.

About the Hongqiao Hub

The Hongqiao Hub is ideally located at the heart of the Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District (CBD) and is the only site that is directly connected to the Hongqiao Transportation Hub, thus facilitating convenient accesses to major transportation nodes such as the High-Speed Railway Station, Hongqiao International Airport Terminal 2, as well as three Metro lines in operation. As described in the Shanghai’s 13th Five Year Plan (2016 – 2020), Hongqiao CBD is poised to become a world-class business centre providing services for business, exhibition & conventions, and transportation for the Yangtze River Delta and beyond.

The construction work of The Hub commenced in 2011 and marked completion in the second half of 2015. It is today a new business, cultural and lifestyle landmark, comprising a large retail component, offices and a performance and exhibition centre. The Hub enjoys irreplaceable market positioning, via a unique and seamless blend of shopping, entertainment and F&B with the performing arts, as well as kids & family-friendly experiences.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the building components of The Hub complex and understand the synergy in-between
2. Discuss how the project take advantage of its location and connect with the transportation hub
3. Understand the different phases of commercial improvement and the  corresponding strategies
4. Discuss the trade-off between economic and environmental  benefits of common spaces
